FOLLOW ME!
Start date: Jan 31, 2015, End date: Dec 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Youth Exchange Activity "Follow me!" is promoted by Centro de Desporto e Cultura de Fornos de Algodres, a local youth association concerned about inclusion through interculturalism and Sports. The Exchange Activity will take place in Fornos de Algodres. This group will participate in a mini-marathon ABT - All-Terrain Bycicle, inserted in a Programme where they will explore together - through sporting competition, but also study, reflection and debate - the influence of sports activity on well-being, personal development and social integration. Will be explored topics such as: healthy living, experience, adventure, team spirit, social inclusion, competition, concentration, focus, and how these themes are present in different dimensions of life, school, work, family and social life. The approach will be made through group dynamics and participatory methodologies in which the participantes will have the opportunity to discover and autonomously intervene directly in decisions regarding the project. It is intended to constitute a meeting of young people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds who are attracted by sports activity and outdoor lifestyle. We anticipate joining 57 young people from 9 different organisations, from 8 different countries - Portugal, Turkey, Latvia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Romania, Italia and Poland - for a period of six days, between 7 and 12 April 2015. The activities will have as global objectives: a) provide participants the involvement in a competitive activity in a flattering context of positive participation b) offer participants an opportunity to increase understanding of other cultures and countries c) promote awareness of the attitudes and skills whose development is favored by the practice of sports. As a result of the exchange, we hope to contribute to competence-enhancing of the participants, their personal development, self-esteem and motivation to actively participate in the community, as well as to increase the knowledge of foreign languages and the openness to interculturalism. At the level of organizations, we hope to provide teams knowledge, skills and contacts that may enhance development of their organizations and the establishment of European and international partnerships in their area of work. Through the publication and dissemination of the project results, our expectation is that more similar opportunities for young people will be created as well as other measures to promote sporting activity and interculturalism as tools for social integration.
