Folk coach, modern approach
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The "Folk coach, modern approach" project is a dance and handicraft workshop which brings together 51 dancers between 18 and 25 years old from three dance groups, from Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. The inspiration was to make a project which will be a clash of folk dance and handicraft. The main objective is to increase the acceptance and understanding among the 51 dancers during the nine days in Mrzezyno. We are going to rebut stereotypes of both street and folk dancers. The idea is that young people try certain elements of techniques from other groups, and show them own elements of choreography and finally together prepare common dance show. We will use different methods of work. During the performances and dance classes, both on the beach and in the port of Mrzezyno, participants will broaden their skills. Methods such as teamwork and brainstorming will be necessary during the preparation of two performances, combining street and folk techniques. Moreover, participants with the children from holiday camp will prepare a handicrafts and poster depicting dancers and dance styles. We are going to hang this poster on one of the fence as a form of promotion the active leisure through dance. Additionally, during the project youth will take part in integration games, activities, and "energizers”. We believe that by encouraging youth to develop a common performance participants will exchange experiences, learn how to achieve compromise and diversify their dance and handicraft. Moreover, by organized performances and dance workshops they will promote and encourage local community and tourists for active ways of leisure.
