Förderung der Integration und der Internationalisierung durch Mobilität an der ESS
Start date: Aug 7, 2014, End date: Aug 6, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our main objective is to enhance the integration and internationalization through mobility at the ESS school. The fact that approximately 90% of our students grow up in a multi-lingual environment and have a migrant background is very important and interesting for us. We want to make the best use of all existing, but hidden, resources in our school as well as helping our students to develop them. To meet this challenge we need financial means, because neither the Offenbach district nor our students’ families can support us. Generally we want to foster the language, intercultural and transcultural skills and their mobility within Europe. Phase 1: Two teachers are going to participate in a teacher’s training in Oxford. The aim here is to improve the quality of language teaching. Furthermore, they will promote contacts with other schools that are also interested in building a partnership and they will acquire practical experience in stays abroad, which can be reflected in the further development of the project. Phase 2: In the second phase, the existing contacts will be intensified and agreements and conventions about mobility will be made with other schools. The main focus here is based on the organizational preparation of the school exchanges. Phase 3: In this phase, the school exchanges will be implemented. Organizational questions will be checked and, if necessary, corrected. Both participants in the training are foreign language teachers who have already acquired experience, from different perspectives, in stays abroad through exchange and promotion programmes (ERASMUS, COMENIUS and DAAD). Moreover, they are specialists in the field of interculturality. Since we start from scratch in this field, it is of particular significance to us to be able to lay a solid and high-quality foundation. The training in Oxford will serve as basis and point of departure for the planning of further steps. The results of the project will be analyzed by the participants together with the school leadership, as well as additional measures aimed at the implementation of the objectives will be defined and applied. Our goal is to establish partnerships with other European schools so that later our students can participate in a school exchange. We want to help our students be mobile in Europe and develop a better understanding for intercultural communication. This will positively contribute to their integration in our society. “Life-long learning” is for us a extremely important issue. Experience abroad notably leverages the intercultural, transcultural and social skills.
