The residents of the cross-border area rarely travel to the neighbouring country to go to a museum. In the absence of a coherent cultural offer at regional level, the border effect still very much exists. And yet, a crafts museum network already exists in the Belgian Westhoek. In France however, there is currently no structural network, though many ad hoc initiatives do exist.Against this background, the museums in the cross-border area cooperate to highlight their heritage. Developing these museums involves promoting the arts and popular tradition collections in French and Belgian Flanders. In addition, the partners promote the museums in the cross-border area to the residents and encourage the museums to a broader cooperation by developing common management tools for their collections and communicating together.
