Heilsuleikskólinn Kór operates partly through a Health policy, where the goal is to increase the childrens' well being and happiness. That is done through nutrition, exercise and artwork in every day routine. Our goal was to offer a different teaching methods by increasing outdoor teaching and helping children increasing their physical awareness by using the environment around us an encourage both the parents and the community around us to do the same. To achieve our goals we applied to Erasmus+ for a grant of the amound 16.935 euros and got 9.390 euros. The nursery got less grant than originally was applied for so the participants had to reconsider the project. The only changes we made was that we had less participants and we only took the outdoors teaching by using our environment around us instead of helping the children increasing their physical awareness as well. We will continue working on that part for the next two years because we got new grant from Erasmus+. The participants were seven and they went to two countries, Spain and Denmark. They passed there experience on to the coworkers and to the society. Four of them went to Denmark and visited schools who focus on outdoor teaching. The participants participated in the school work the whole time they were there and came back with lots of experience and ideas of outdoor teaching. Three participants went to Spain to visits schools and took some course about learning through activities called ,,leikur að læra". The nursery decided to have the same course for the teachers of the same subject from the same host and the whole school went to Spain last april. In the continuations the nursery decided to cooperate with the hosts to use there philosophy behind the teaching so in the fall we are going to implement there philosophy and all the teachers are very excited. We got the parents also involved in the nursery and they organize a lecture of outdoors activity for the parents and the teachers. We all liked the philosophy so much that the nursery decided to have a course for the teachers of the same subject from the same host. The participants also held a lecture about outdoor teaching in a conference in Iceland about natural science. We got asked to give the same lecture for others schools, for teachers from Lithuania and gymnastics teachers from Europe visiting Iceland through University of Iceland in english. They where very Impressed and asked if the could get the teaching materials to show others in their countries. This project has made the teachers more confident about using outdoor teaching, there knowledge, ideas and how to approach the teaching methods has improved a lot. We can say with proud that our goals in this project has been achieved.
