The project „Fit for Europe @ GSG Gengenbach“ means for us to leap forward from national to international school development. Our staff is currently particitating in regional and supraregional developement programs. Key Action 1, offered by the Erasmus +-programs, would additionally enable our school to develop towards European level. Our school is also aiming to effectively learn about pedagogical concepts from Scandinavian educational institutions which succeeded in the PISA-study and by this means to develop our pedagogical concept and enlarge our teacher's competences. On the one hand our application is based on job shadowing, which would allow a more detailed look on the structures and concepts of the visited pedagogical institutions. On the other hand it is based on training classes which are adapted to our school development plan. Our partner schools are two former Comenius partner schools. We would like to get a deeper understanding of the different pedagogical approaches they practice. This project would furthermore enable us to stay in touch with these schools and use this contact for a prospective cooperation. Our Comenius-assistant's school moreover allows us an insight in the Swedish education system. Benchmarking- / Structured Visits- classes provide a diversified overview of „Best Practice“ in the European educational environment. Our school's further development towards an all-day school requires additional programs for our pupils. We therefore apply for outdoor-teaching and English lessons. This English class would furthermore help us to successfully execute European projects with our pupils. Given that our new curriculum will request the implementation of new media teaching, we moreover chose two teacher training classes focusing on new media. Our scholl is located in different sites in four town districts. To provide each school with the information we involved staff of each school in this project, which enables us to quickly multiply and implement experiences. Three of these teachers are head of a branch as well as member of the school development team. One of the mentioned teachers is our future deputy head, another one is coordinator of our European projects, one further teacher currently absolves training for multimedia counseling, and one other teaches our school kindergarten class. „Fit for Europe @ GSG Gengenbach“ will not only enrich our school development by supplying an European dimension. Since the four teachers involved, will multiply the competences they have gained through their experiences and insights, , we will be able to train our whole staff and to successfully go through the change of our school system.
