Finding oportunity

Aim of the project is to teach 16 schoolchildren with fewer opportunities, via non-formal learning workshops, different methods for finding and realizing the opportunity in their difficult local environment for leisure, study of work. Group of schoolchildren will prepare a infographics on learned methods for others and the mentors will describe methods in prepared manual. Slovenia: Primary school Šalovci is situated in the Prekmurje, Slovenian most rural part, with the high percentage of socially deprived families. Most of the industry is ruined by the globalisation and low prices which local economy cannot match. School has 65 pupils in 9 classes in year 2014/15. It facing the situation of lowering enrolment because of the brain drain and the aging of the population. Few years ago branch school were closed and now, if situation will not change, can happen the same with the central school. Schoolchildren themselves finds out that this situation endanger their future and they seek changing opportunities. Lithuania: Decrease of young people number is among the most crucial issues of the city. Statistics reveals that in Kaunas there is the largest youth downward trend among the largest cities in the country. Young people do not find Kaunas to be a promising city where they could have fortunate future life. Youth experts point out some possible reasons influencing shaping of such thinking. One of them is a decreased willingness of young people to live actively. Over the period of mobility, schoolchildren will learn on following topics: personal responds on challenging situation (what is out initial reaction, what feelings do we carry with, how does this influence our emotions, what is level of self-confidence and how to change it) personal responsibilities for the situation (what is and what is not depending on us, learning what we can change and what is not in our powers) methods for finding opportunity in the current situation (idea finding using Six thinking heads and CoRT method, exploration and expression of personal desires, searching for needs in the current situation, make relation between them) in different areas (business, leisure, sports, personal development…) methods for checking of opportunities (SWOT analysis, role playing, argumentation) methods for preparation of action plan out the initial idea (what we have, what we need, preparation of financial plan, restrictions on defined budget, working schedule preparation of infographics on “How we find opportunity for ourselves?” Activities are concepted on the following parts: Youthpass: for the active use of Youthpass, special mentor will be appointed. It will work with the participants throughout the mobility, with the planning activity in the morning and with the reflection on the achievements, learning experiences and outcomes. German words: Being aware, that the pupils at the end of the primary school cannot express themselves vividly in the foreign language, we predict every morning short course of german language words and expression, related to the topic of the day. Topic of the day Cultural exploration and leisure activities Participants evaluation of the day - what we did good and what can be done different When creating different activities, a great care was taken to use methods of informal learning which enables learning process, stimulate creativity / exploration, active participation and initiative. Along with the gained basic competences and knowledge of the opportunity finding methods, activities will produce two different tangible results: infographics pamphlets, one for each method, prepared by participants on the last day of the workshop brochure on used opportunities finding methods methods for youth workers It is expected that project will encourage and motivate pupils to be more active, to change their daily routine and to search for interesting and meaningful post-classes activities. It will let them to know that there are plenty of exciting activities that could help them to develop personal qualities, acquire new knowledge and skills that could be helpful in their future for creating successful life in the local environment. Primary School Šalovci management expect that after the mobility, school is to be known as best promoter in Prekmurje in the field of international projects with visible results, thanks to improved management skills and internationalisation strategies and reinforced cooperation with partners from other countries. With this academic achievements, final goal is to attract children from neighbouring villages, who are now driving into big schools.
