"Fenris - from individuality to creative communication"
59 participants from 4 European youth groups meet for two weeks in Iceland, in the summer of 2014. The participants come from Icelandic, Danish, Norweigan and Finnish youthgroups focusing on stage art; music, theatre, song and dance. 9 groupleaders follow the participants.
The ambition of the project is to complete a collaboration theatre-project the groups have been working on together for the past year, and then travel around Iceland with the production, from the starting point in Akureyri to Reykjavík, Vík and finally to take part in the LungA art festival in Seyðisfjörður.
The main aim of the project is to strengthen the creative and innovative competences of the participants in a social context, and further to support youngsters using the stage and the arts as a medium of communication. Representatives from the four groups have chosen this theme due to their concern about the massive focus on "individuality" - which tends to move focus away from social responsibility, human rights and creativity in a social context.
The project also aims to encourage young people to be active, independent participants in their society; capable of cooperation across borders and critical thinking.
The participants have already met twice before and worked together on the theme. They have also worked individually on a performance or idea that they will present to the whole group in Iceland and work together in creating a joint performance with dance, drama and music. The performance will display the participants concerns, ideas and ambitions, and will prove the youths ability to cooperate.
