FASHION SCHOOL – Multimedia and internet guide for international textile trade

Surveys have showed that existing education materials in the fashion and textile sector are either out of date or with old methodological and didactical approaches. The aim of the “Fashion School” project is to increase and improve the quality of lifelong vocational education in the fashion/textile sector. To achieve this goal the project will develop “The multilingual guide for textile business” of which the major outcome will be a multilingual explanatory dictionary containing over 2.500 expressions in 10 languages. The target sectors towards which this project is orientated are distribution chain (clothing, fabric, and textile) wholesale, retail, textile manufactories, textile industry, fashion design, and other services enterprises like specialized protective clothing producers. The project will increase the language competences and professional education of potential users and beneficiaries as there are: textile retailers, researchers, distributors, fashion designers as well as students, pedagogues and scholars from textile secondary schools and universities in Europe and in that way contribute to the increased mobility of students and scholars across Europe. Specific results that can be expected in the course of the project are the fashion and textile explanatory dictionary, the multimedia fashion and textile guide (including demo CD’s), and a methodology of multimedia guide processing. Towards the methodology a system of self-checking exercises will be included in the dictionary in order to ensure the increase of language skills. To ensure the distribution of information about the projects results and outcome the sector specific channel of presenting these at trade fairs in the participating countries is used (trade fairs on household textiles, textile fibres, fashion shows, etc).
