Fantastic Actors in a Night of Science (FANS)
Start date: May 1, 2010, End date: Nov 30, 2010 PROJECT  FINISHED

"The European Commission has called for a new edition of the Researchers’ Night to be performed in September 2010. In this context, the cultural Association Agora, in collaboration with the University of Salerno, the Municipality of Vietri Sul Mare and the Media Association Unisound have planned to join the event with a project aiming to use the cinema a powerful communication mean for the promotion of scientific progress embodied by the figure of the Researchers.Moving beyond the plot of the most famous world-wide known movies, the main features will be used to make straight reference to the scientific reality: researchers and experts from the communication sector will drive the public through the scene explaining the situation in a more meaningful and more scientific based approach. The core point of the project is to shoot with the help of the public and of the committed researchers short movies based on most famous ones in which scientific aspects are represented. During the Researchers’ Night, those catch phrases and scenes played by researchers/actors will be used to start a professional tutoring activity or a scientific and recreational demonstration open to the wide public related to the technological and scientific status of knowledge of nowadays life. The idea of this project is supported by a network of knowledge and of institutional links, like the Campania regional government that dedicated funding to promote tourism in UNESCO elicited areas such as Vietri sul Mare. This small town is a “pearl” of Amalfi Coast. In 1997 it was included in the list of Unesco and it has already been the backdrop (with its landscape and natural beauty) for famous and well-known to the general public movie scenes."
