Family Competences Portfolio - Developing an instrument for the assessment of family related skills and competences

Recognising the challenges of an ageing society and a consequent need to validate the knowledge, competences and skills gained by adult learners in non-formal settings, the primary goal of this award-winning project was the development of the Family Competences Portfolio, a tool able to directly assess such knowledge and skills. Considering increasing demands for personal and social skills in many sectors, including the health and social care sectors, partners worked together to identify and subsequently assess the knowledge and skills gained through family care and the raising of children.
