FAME -Fit für den Arbeitsmarkt durch Mobilität in Europa
Start date: Dec 1, 2014, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus + program has the objective to improve the quality of vocational education and training through the use of internships throughout Europe .The association IN VIA Cologne e. V specifically targets young people from 18 years onwards to an apprenticeship in the metal industry (see P.6 ) . Positive experiences in the implementation of the Leonardo program and good cooperation with vocational schools and businesses have encouraged IN VIA Cologne e. V keep on sending young adults on the Erasmus + program. Within the frame of the Erasmus+ program, IN VIA wanted to give particularly disadvantaged young people the chance to take part in an international exchange program to achieve advanced qualifications and develop their personal competences. A 4 week stay abroad in Italy, including a 3 week internship, strengthened social, personal and intercultural competences as well as job-specific skills and know-how. Furthermore it promoted the foreign language skills. The young people were deployed in a company which was able to teach contents relevant for their apprenticeship or education. That meant that the apprenticeship or qualification in Germany was not interrupted but learning contents were deepened and developed further in a different kind of learning context. This was assured by the use of both of the ECVET instruments ?Learning Agreement? and ?Personal Transcript?. Additional elements of the project were an intensive preparation (e.g. regarding organisation, language training, intercultural learning) and a follow-up (reflexion, documentation of the learning achievements) of the stay abroad. Aims and expected results: ? 20 young people to took part successfully in Erasmus +, including 10 disadvantaged young people. ? Personal competences (like self-confidence, independence, personal responsibility or reliability) were increased. ? Social competences (like ability to work in a team, communication skills, conflict skills) were strengthened. ? Intercultural competences and foreign language skills have been broadened. ? Standard elements of the framework curricula have been taught during the internship. ? The regional and occupational mobility has been broadened. Long-term expected results: ? Increase of the labour market opportunities of the youth. ? Strengthen the employer attractiveness of the joining training companies since Erasmus+ is an instrument of human resources development. ? Increasing tolerance and acceptance of people of different origins and cultures. ? Strengthening the way of thinking that overcomes national boarders.
