FAIR TRADE AND SCHOOLS

This multilateral partnership entitled FAIR TRADE AND SCHOOLS is based on a cooperation between schools of the following countries: Austria (coordinating institution), UK, Italy and Germany (partner institutions). The major objectives of the partnership is to develop the knowledge and understanding of the meaning of fair trade and to get familiar with the key fair trade principles (e.g. creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers, transparency and accountability, capacity building, payment of a fair price, gender equity, working conditions and environment) among students, educational staff and other people interested in the project. In addition to that, the project focuses on strengthening the awareness of the meaning and importance of fair trade in a European dimension/context, on helping young people to acquire the basic competences necessary for their personal development and for becoming conscious and responsible consumers, on increasing the knowledge of the inequalities caused by conventional world trade as well as on promoting language learning and learning mobility.
