Fællesskabets kollaps? – en radioføljeton om solidaritet og sammenhængskraft i fremtidens Europa
Start date: Aug 1, 2013,
Under the main theme “Solidarity and cohesion in the European Union”, the project consists of a sequence of radio magazines and a live event in Copenhagen. Three radio magazines will, in various ways and from different angles, address the future of the European community by approaching and questioning three different 'collapsing' institutions – aid, borders and media. These institutions are undergoing significant changes in the way they are understood and 'practiced' in Europe after the crisis as our concepts of solidarity and cohesion are challenged and transformed. The first radio magazine, The collapse of aid?, investigates the future of aid and its ethical and political scopes, both as a social security system in the welfare state, and as a political intervention in the third world. The second radio magazine, The collapse of borders?, asks which borders break down and which new ones might be created during times of both crisis and ever-increasing flows of people, information and goods, and will examine social mobility and migration movement from South to Northern Europe and its individual and collective implications. Finally, The collapse of medias? will discuss the role of artistic and media practices in relation to their potentials to build both democracy and cohesion in the time of crisis. The radio magazines will be launched at a live event in Copenhagen targeting students and others. Here, highlights from the radio production will be presented together with art performances and supported by visuals such as slide shows containing photographs, drawings and stop frame animations of graph and statistics, and followed by expert presentations with the aim of stimulating debate. Subsequently, the radio magazines will be broadcasted via the web radio station Den2Radio and the web magazine Atlas. Kollaps is a non-profit association, dedicated to critical investigation and experimental mediation of political and cultural tendencies in and outside of Denmark. Kollaps offers a platform for young aspiring journalists to experiment with innovative forms of political and cultural journalism and story telling. The radio magazines will combine high quality journalistic content with non-journalistic content such as story telling, poetry reading, soundscaping and live performances. The project is a youth initiative based in Copenhagen, involving approximately 15 people between 20-30 years. The project will be carried out within a period of four month.
