FADERTIC aims to provide an alternative means for the continuous training of Rural Development Agents, more specifically a self-training (workplace training) and guidance system (specialised support in the implementation of practical rural development projects) based on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT).Activities will include: analysis and identification of the continuous training requirements of Rural Development Agents; elaboration of the methodology and teaching/training elements of the training; identification and development of training contents; development of a distance learning and guidance system; production of multimedia training content and piloting of a self-training exercise on guidance for development agents. The end results will comprise: a training methodology and set of teaching/training tools for the self-training of Rural Development Agents; a series of training modules; a web-based, self-training and guidance system for continuous training; an evaluation report on the training and guidance system developed and a report upon the viability of the use of ICT in the training of geographically dispersed groups, especially those in rural settings. The principle reports, materials and findings will be produced on CD-Rom for final dissemination, in addition to which a dedicated project website will be developed for the management of the project and to further inform all interested parties on the ongoing developments and final results of the project.
