Facing the Challenges in European Union. Re-thinking of EU Education and Research for Smart and Inclusive Growth
Start date: 01 Sep 2014, End date: 31 Aug 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project aims to show a new perspective and requirements necessary to undertake within the European Studies in the new economic and social context in Europe. The Europe 2020 Strategy makes it clear how important the European research and education is for the smart, sustainable and inclusive growth under the new global and regional settings influenced by the recent world crisis. A coherent framework for the smart, sustainable and inclusive growth is based on enhanced coordination of policies to promote employment and growth driven by knowledge and innovation and to build a cohesive society. The conference on "Re-thinking of EU Research and Education for Smart and Inclusive Growth" to be organized in June 2015 goes in line with the Europe 2020 Strategy, which strongly underlines a need to reinforce the education and science policy coordination with the actions necessary to undertake within the EU to achieve the sustainable development through smart and inclusive growth. The conference will be organized by Polish European Community Studies Association (PECSA) belonging to ECSA network since 1990. The main idea is to map the situation of the European Studies in Poland and in other countries of Eastern Europe (not only EU Members but also the Eastern Partnership countries) through the interdisciplinary approach at the bachelor, master and PhD levels through a diversity of such sciences as Law, Economics, History, Political Sciences and Cultural Studies. Another important goal of the conference will focus on the attempt to identify the main areas to teach and research in the nearest future as well as the ways of conducting the European Studies (including ICTs and the openness for different specializations). The conference will bring together important stakeholders from academia, business, national and regional governments, the European Commission and European institutions, as well as other highly reputed international experts in the field.
