Facilitating Opportunities using Role Models to Underpin Learning for Adults who are socially excluded.

The project will develop an adult guidance network based on the principle of adult peer mentoring and fully incorporating the adult learner and former adult learner in “owning” their learning and progression.Successful completion and progression of learners is accompanied not only by good teaching standards but by good guidance. As well as the teacher / learner relationship, the partners have increasingly used former adult learners to encourage, motivate and lead learners to successfully complete a wide range of adult courses. The initiative will formalise these processes to ensure success across the partnership, taking into account local and cultural challenges.- A European peer adult mentoring network.- A support package for adult mentoring volunteers, developing accreditation against the European Qualifications Framework- A training programme for facilitators and professional trainers and individuals who work in the area of guidance through workshops and developed project materials. The materials will be benchmarked against the European Qualifications Framework.- Monitoring of the impact of the network, both locally and via the partnership which will be presented as an outcome on pedagogical methodologies.- An evaluation, by an independent evaluator, to measure the effectiveness of the project.The impact of this project will be revolutionary in the way we facilitate guidance, support, training and volunteering using this adult centred approach. It will impact on the way adult learners engage with the learning process, and the adults as volunteers in the system, will have the satisfaction of giving back something into the process and it will increase their life skills and employability. The support of facilitators, through training will be a strong component of the outcomes of the project. Training will be delivered through workshops and a Grundtvig training course available on-line for downloading as a published resource.
