Exploring the outdoors, Nordic summer camp

Exploring the outdoors is a Nordic summer camp for visually impaired youth at the age of 18 to 30. The Icelandic organization for the visually impaired is the host for this event. The partners are the blind organizations from Denmark, Finland and Sweden which each send 6 participants to the event. The venue of the camp will be Úlfljótsvatn scout center which offers a great possibility for outdoor sports. The theme of the camp is outdoor sports and exercise with the aspect of evaluating the accessibility of this kind of activities for visually impaired. The main idea of the camp is to give the visually impaired youth a possibility to try out different kind of outdoor activities and to encourage them to exercise some sports, try their boundaries by trying new things and to find the joy of it. One of the main targets of the camp is to discuss and explore the accessibility for the visually impaired people in these kind of environments and how the accessibility can be improve with the right equipments and attitudes.
