"Exploring my everyday life through your eyes" - young people from Erlangen and Eskilstuna discover the others and themthelves - Project 1
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Nov 30, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project took place in Eskilstuna (Sweden) and consisted of 7 program days. The international youth exchange brought together a German and a Swedish youth group with 9 German and 8 Swedish participants and 2 leaders from each country. The age of the participants ranged from 14 to 26 years. The topic of the exchange was "Exploring my everyday life through your eyes – young people from Erlangen and Eskilstuna discover the others and themselves". Corresponding to this topic, the participants had to explore, present and reflect their everyday life. The fields "school", "leisure time", "family" and "social activities" had been taken as examples. The aim of examining and reflecting the everyday life was to recognize interrelations, forces, mechanisms, responsibilities and participation possibilities within these areas. In addition, the participants were encouraged and empowered to actively shape these and other areas of life. As a consequence, this approach supported the active involvement of young people facing their everyday life and, therefore, also the participants’ citizenship. This youth exchange primarily used methods of informal and non-formal learning. In particular, the youth exchange focused on field trips related to the selected areas of life: School, activities in the leisure time, social activities and the family. By preparing and wrapping-up the field trips in plenary sessions, small groups and in individual work the learning process had been even intensified. Using immediate interaction on the project progression with young people from other European countries via Facebook had been opened and leveraged the project communication onto an European level. In a succeeding project in Erlangen/Germany (27.3.-4.4.2015), the Swedish participants got a realistic insight into the life of Germans in their own country and the respective fields of life were sustainably elaborated even further.
