Exploring Jobs In Europe
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Vocational College of Information Technology and Medical Device Technolgy is sending learners from both dual as well fulltime courses to various European countries. Based on the legal framwork of the German Vocational Training Act they will be spending 2-3 month working in companies. This project is based on previous positive experiences with such trainings and reflects the growing demand to gain european experiences as expressed by both companies as well as students. By using the German version of the ECVET roadmap, which outlines the process of preparation, support, selection and guidance (incl. the description of learning outcomes) as also the validation and recognition processes the students will recieve an extensive support of their language abilities, knowledge, skills and personal competences. Theses training periods abroad are supported by a cooperation between participating agencies, schools and companies to enrich the transfer of knowledge as well as enhancing the didactics and methods of teaching. We have therefore included a selectedgroup of particpating teachers from our college to support this aim. Most participants are mainly based in the IT-professions while others study for degrees in medical devices technology. They are exspected to have passed their second year of training. Then they are selected by means of internal assessments, own applications and some are obliged to go as part of their regular training courses. We provide assistance in the area of language acquisition, introduce cultural and historical aspects of their host country and raise their awareness of intercultural differences. By this we want to provide a sound preparation for the upcoming trainings. Through an early cooperation between German companies, our institution, our partners and companies abroad we want to safeguard a good placement which responds to the needs and competenes of our students. The students should be fully able to practice and apply their skills and competences. Our partner institutions abroad are providing the neccessary organisational framework in accordance with our own and mutually agreed standards of quality management. The OSZ IMT is in charge of the overall planning, organisation and finally does the evaluation and public presentation of the outcomes of this project. We exspect that participating in this programme will increase the motivation and ability to join European workplaces and the common labor market, it will also broaden the professional as well as personal perspectives and lead to more social empathy and tolerance.
