Exploring evs and volunteering for intercultural learning: an outlook into 2011
Start date: Dec 1, 2009,

The proposed activity will bring together youth workers and volunteers from the AFS network in charge of EVS projects in order to discuss common rules and procedures for running the EVS programme and plan our common engagement in the European Year of Volunteering 2011 (EYV). The feasibility visit will take place in Leuven, Belgium for 3 days in December 2009 and will involve 16 participants from 9 European countries who will use methods of non-formal learning, sharing and open space discussions to achieve the immediate objectives set: to share existing experience.with the EVS scheme and compare approaches through exchange of best practices; discuss and develop common EVS projects thereby improving the quality of the EVS framework in general; develop joint rules of procedure for managing better quality EVS projects; prepare an action plan for EYV 2011 that will outline steps to be undertaken throughout 2010 in order to fully participate in the Year's events. In the course of the activity participants will be able to get a sound understanding of the EVS programme and the possible themes fór joint projects. They will visit a local EVS project where they can meet the volunteers and get an insight into what the service means for them. The variety of working sessions and points of view will equip the youth workers with skills to run jointly more EVS projects with more quality.
