Expersciences
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Every country has a different approach to scientific notions , it occurred to us that it would be interesting to compare these methods to find out the best:as a matter of fact, many pupils ,especially girls, seem to give little interest to this subject and do not consider continuing their studies in this field. Besides, students need more and more to communicate in English , finally there are few CLIL physics classes although they are a real advantage for students. This project gives a more concrete, more playful perception of physical sciences which thus will be more attractive .Students will have to communicate , argue in English and learn scientific vocabulary. This project will give teachers the opportunity to compare their educational methods and to adapt these methods according to the comments and critics made by the students during the debates about the videos. This project consists in having two of our scientific classes (18 Polish pupils and 18 French pupils) work in parallel on scientific topics to produce videos in English on re- usable experiments in chemistry during the first year, related to health and environmentand and in physics during the second year on gravity, pressure and astronomy, and to compare the various educational and scientific approaches used . They will also compare the measurements made during the exchanges when visiting museums, laboratories and observatories and on the ground to the simulations made in class. The videos will lead to comparisons and debates on the approach used to answer the issue. The objective being to determine the best scientific and pedagogical method. The best videos will then be disseminated on the internet, on You Tube and on the academic website in order to value the project and be re-used by other teachers and by the public. Another interest of the project isthat it will create a link between secondary schools and university as well as between secondary schools and junior secondary schools. The final goal of the project is on the one hand to give the opportunity to students to learn scientific vocabulary , become more fluent in English and develop their argumentation skills it also aims at encouraging students ,boys and girls alike to join physics CLIL classes and to continue their studies in this field ,in France or abroad. On the other hand ,the objective is to give the opportunity to teachers to discover new scientific and pedagogical methods ,to provide physics CLIL teachers with work documents and to give them examples of what can be done in a physics CLIL class.
