"The European Experience of professional and personal development of veterinary technicians" is a project that lasts 15 months and is aimed at improving the practical training of trainees vet in the area of competence of their specialization, through internship in well equipped veterinary clinics with the latest equipment and necessary instruments, with operating rooms, necropsy room, modern treatment rooms, where students have contact with specialists who know how to use these technologies and experienced clinical staff. The target group of the project is 28 XIth form pupils from No. 1 Technological Highschool in Salonta, with the qualification of veterinary technician. They will follow a two-week internship in two Portuguese veterinary clinics, infact 60 hours of classes from the Module V, pathological anatomy and pathophysiology from the Practical Training Standards corresponding to the curriculum of specialization. This Module corresponds to the 15 Units of Competences from the Practical Training Standards, Pathological anatomy and pathophysiology. The transnational partnership includes No. 1 Technological Highschool from Salonta as the promoter and beneficiary of the project and two veterinary clinics DO Olive Veterinary Clinic and Clínica Veterinária De Famalicão, Sociedade Unipessoal Lda from Barcelos, Portugal as host organizations and Associação Intercultural Amigos da Mobilidade also from Barcelos, Portugal as an intermediate organization.The mobility will take place in two streams of 14 students and 1 accompanying teacher between April 2017 and October 2017.The internship meets the need of students to develop skills specific to their specialization from the above mentioned Module corresponding to The Practical Training Standards. This internship neither can take place in the school, because of the absence of a specialized laboratory nor in the didactic farm or in any veterinary clinics in the area. It can be done only in clinics equipped with technology and necessary equipment. In addition it would also help to develop other key skills included in The Practical Training Standards: communication skills in an international language, communication skills in the workplace, career development, critical thinking and problem solving, opening a business, developing IT skilis in the processing of information.Project objectives:Acquiring skills and specific practical abitities at the Vth Module Pathological anatomy and Pathophysiology at high standard in a European environment in order to improve employability and training successful careersA set of key new knowledge and skills that contribute to the personal development of youth and quick integration into the labor marketEstablishing platforms for collaboration between the school and clinics from European area to facilitate training programs and the transfer of best practice performanceThe themes developed through the internship will be:- making necropsy differentiated on species and analyzing changes in local blood circulation and lymphatic- analysis of changes in metabolism and inflammationExpected results:Intangible results:1. Professional competences and practical skills acquired during the internship, which will give participants a greater preparation for their integration into the labor market after graduating2. The experience of training at clinics in Europe and work in multicultural teams will increase autonomy and the participants` reponsability, they become more prepared and more competitive for the European market.3. The developing of acquired intercultural and also language skills will make participants more able to integrate and live in a different cultural context.4. Developing entrepreneurial skillsTangible results:5. 2 DVDs (1 / flow) that contain examples of good practice during the internship of students participating in order to use them to the classes by the specialty teachers6. 28 portfolios practice that can be used in specialty classes7. Exhibition of photographs of aspects of the internship period8. Making a Practical Guide with specific activities of Pathological Anatomy and fiziopatologia- module that can be used during the specialty classes9. Making a veterinary clinic as a training firms10. Making a cooperation agreement between the school and the receiving organizations11. Obtaining a European certification to facilitate mobility and employability of young peopleOn a longer term, using the experience gained during the clinical internship in another country, we are going to build a necropsy hall in our school where students will carry out practical activities specific to their qualification.
