Experiencing tourism: a professional opportunity of growth
Start date: Nov 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The analysis of the context and the employability of young graduates in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, educational and vocational field of our partnership showed how students just graduated from secondary school have practical skills and competences inadequate and insufficient to respond to the market demands. In this scenario, internships and training periods have shown to be the necessary consecutive step to develop the students? potential and to implement the theoretical knowledge learnt in school. Both in Italy and abroad, the training experience allows students not only to learn from practice but also to better comprehend their talents and inclinations and to test their ability to function in a specific work environment. The main objective of the Experiencing Tourism: a professional opportunity of growth (E.T.Pro.) project has been to improve the quality and effectiveness of education and vocational training and to encourage young graduates to seek for competence and to develop an innovative entrepreneurial way of thinking. In practical terms, the project has aimed to train 101 students and to award each of them ECVET points and an Europass Mobility certificate as Technician in Tourism Business and therefore facilitate their professional placement and growth. 5 more mobilities were assigned for VET Staff. The destination of the training periods were Spain, Malta, the UK and France. Each training experience lasted 4 weeks with the first group of students leaving on the 16th of May and the last one returning back on the 15th of October. The 101 participants are recent graduated secondary school students (51) and post-secondary vocational education students (50). The activities started in November 2014 with the implementation of the project and the scheduling of the following actions. -Implementation of the planned activities -Selection and orientation; -Linguistic and pedagogic preparation -Mobilities -Dissemination -Career Week -Final report -Internship at local companies for the most deserving students The project team offered constant supervision and support to students and foreign partners. In order to allow the participants to immediately confront the job market and therefore test their achieved skills and abilities, at the end of the mobolity period, the ITS organized a Career Week inviting all the stakeholders to meet and discuss achivements and work experiences with the students.
