The ET project has two main aims. Firstly to provide teaching experience for newly qualified teachers of English as a Foreign Language to enhance their employment prospect. Secondly to provide English Language teaching to learners who may receive little or no English Language teaching, especially from native speakers.There is also a sub aim of discovering the changes in the English Language teaching market in Europe with the implementation of CLIL and the technological changes in the teaching of English in Spain Italy and Portugal, and how that needs to be reflected in the teaching training offered on the courses for becoming a teacher of English.Language Link trains over 200 English language teachers every year and adding the experience of teaching in a formal setting in Spain, Italy or Portugal will provide a boost to their CV's and their opportunities for employment. This is especially true for the newly qualified teachers whose ethnic background is not European.The participants in the project will be 60 newly qualified teachers who have completed, at Language Link or in any of the organisations in the consortium, in the last 12 months, the Certificate for Teaching English Language to Adults . This course does include a component on teaching young learners. The participants will be over 21 and generally hold a university degree or equivalent.The participants will carry out English Language teaching in a variety of contexts. Please see attached case studies for a more detailed description. In summary they will teach English Language in state schools to children, to adults, to workers in the Tourism and Hospitality industries, to the unemployed and to migrants. There is a great need and desire to learn English as way of improving employability, mobility and communication in Spain, Italy and Portugal.The processes to carry out the project will include: The publicizing process, the selection process, the preparation process, the logistics of travel, accommodation, insurance etc, the monitoring process, the evaluation process and the dissemination processThe main long term impact of this project will be twofold. Firstly the newly qualified teachers who participate will have greatly enhanced chances of gaining their first paid teaching post, in Britain, or especially in Europe or internationally. Secondly the learners of English, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, in Italy, Spain and Portugal will experience English Language teaching from qualified, enthusiastic teachers. Their will also be an impact upon the future training of English as a Foreign Language teachers as the impact of CLIL and the technological changes in the teaching of English in European countries such as Spain, Italy and Portugal is better understood.
