Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

‘IES Las Fuentes de Villena’, Alicante, is a public school with eight years’ experience. Currently, it holds 650 students whose families are economically damaged due to the high unemployment rate, the closure of small and medium enterprises decicated to the manufacture of shoes and toys which traditionally have provided job offers here and in the province. Our school has 27 teaching units which accomplish an educational offer for Secondary Compulsory Education, A Levels , Higher Vocational Training Education (International Trade and Esthetic), Medium Vocational Training Education (Trade and Hairdressing)and also Lower Vocational Training in Trade, Esthetic and Hairdressing. From the very beginning, the senior administrative team has worked hard to establish contact to different companies (in our region and some European countries such as the UK or France) so that students could do an internship with them. Besides, our school has been assigned to improvement programs offered by the educational administration at different levels. The main aim is to provide an education of quality, prevent school dropouts, and help our students in order to enter in the labour market. In this school year 2015-16, there are 63 teachers, most of them young and dynamic, with a permanent position who have accepted pleasingly these challenges. In this way, we consider relevant the development of a Plurilingual Program in English based on the CLIL methodology. To achieve that, in the school year 2012-13 we started a training program course for teachers as well as on-line training courses in English offered by ‘Consellería de Educación, Cultura y Deporte’ of the Valencian Community and Official School of Languages. Both of them have helped some teachers to obtain a B2 Certificate in English as well as a knowlegde of CLIL methodology. From then on, during the last two school years, we have given a subject in English in 1st and another one in the 2nd year of ESO and our intention is to widen the number of subjects in English in one more for all the levels each year too. Furthermore, in order to modernise and internationalize education, the school has recently developed a European Development Plan. According to it, by this form, we ask for six actions of the KA 101: three actions to widen our knowledge of how to implement a CLIL methodology and improve our written and oral skills in English in both the linguistic and the scientific area; two actions for the English department to update their knowledge about method strategies and materials to help the other departments to take part in the Plurilingual program. Finally, another action to learn about implementing TIC in the learning-teaching process. Regarding the last point, the implementation of TIC in a plurilingual program, for the call 2017 our aim is to promote a strategic association KA 219 in order to exchange information with European teachers and students. On the other hand, our school has created a team responsable for training and selecting candidates, evaluating the ongoing results and reporting them to teachers, families, and the educational community on the local, regional, national and international level through different media such as eTwining or VALOR. The benefits of the concessions that have been required, could be extraordinary in short and long terms in any of the sectors mentioned. Not only because they will contribute to widen teachers’ training and students’ knowledge skills, but also they will help to improve their professional skills in our country and abroad in a near future.
