Exchanges and meetings of amateur theatres – In the towns of Balatonfüred (HU), Komárno (SK) and Odorheiu Secuiesc (RO).
Start date: May 1, 2010,

The Füred Theatre Foundation (Füredi Játékszín Alapítvány) is the main organiser of the project.Theatrical life in Balatonfüred has a history of 180 years. The progressive intellectuals of the 1800s, i.e. the reform era, tended to gather in our town. The goal of our project, besides fostering our traditions, is to provide an opportunity for the participants and the public to get to know the values, works and performances of other minority cultures through the meeting of various cultures and literary works, to orientate themselves on EU values, the importance of dialogue between cultures and the significance as well as opportunities of cultivating our mother tongue and fostering our traditions and culture in the colourful culture of Europe. In summer 2010 and 2011 Balatonfüred will host the 'Theatrical Days', the international festival of amateur theatres. We will invite other minority arts groups, ethnic minorities and our old Partners from the Czech Republic and Poland (Tarnów, Hnojnik) to hold dance and musical theatrical performances. We will take part in the traditional amateur theatre festivals organised by the co-organisers: the 'Jókai Days' in Komárno (SK) and the 'On the Track of the Covered Wagon' meeting of amateur drama groups in Odorheiu Secuiesc (RO).We will provide room for the exchange of professional experience, discussions and conferences about EU goals, EU values, the dialogue between various cultures and the significance as well as opportunities of cultivating our mother tongue and fostering our traditions and culture in the colourful culture of Europe. The co-ordinator of the programmes as well as the person in charge of professional workshops is András Pataki, the director of Forrás (Spring) Theatre. In 2010 we will announce an international playwright competition on the theme: 'The Difficulties and Opportunities of Living Together with Minorities'. The best works of art will be presented in the following years.
