EXCHANGE RADICAL MOMENTS!
Start date: Jun 1, 2010,

EXCHANGE RADICAL MOMENTS! (E.R.M!) is a new form of art festival, spreading across the European continent, that pays special attention to interdisciplinary processes and new artistic formats, developing projects that create and concentrate on very specific moments. This festival of cooperation and exchange develops and presents artistic works, concepts and strategies that provide both internal and external views of the cultural and social realms of contemporary Europe. One of the festival's primary goals is to develop a network of European art institutions and practitioners that are actively exploring and testing the boundaries of contemporary art production, a network that largely circumvents the overly determined art world circuits dominated by the cultural monoliths of traditional museum and gallery spaces, and the proliferation of biennial exhibitions and art fairs in recent years. As a result, the project will be realised as a transnational collaboration that will unfold over a 17 month period, permeating the cultural landscape of various European countries. The "point of culmination" of the E.R.M! festival will come to fruition on the 11th of November, 2011 - the day that each of the projects will take place simultaneously in each of the participating venues and cities across Europe. Leading up to this date, the project partners and artists will research and experiment with the exchange of "radical moments," developing their projects with care and thoughtfulness. On the auspicious day of 11/11/11 the simultaneously scattered actions, images and interventions will sparkle and ignite like flares across the European landscape, leaving their ephemeral but direct and uncensored residue and fresh impressions lingering behind. These flashes of consciousness and spontaneous formations of large groupings of people will all contribute to a sense of a "Momentary Europe," which positions itself at the forefront of innovative, dialogical processes.
