Exchange of Methods to Increase ICT Skills for Senior and Underprivileged Learners

The Grundtvig Learning Partnership “EXCITE” focused on the transnational exchange of methods, experiences and best practice to increase digital competences of senior or underprivileged learners from different backgrounds. Focused on that objective the partners developed, collected and provided a set of tools and instruments to be used within the different learning environments of their institutions. As a final result of the piloting and evaluation in Germany, Italy, Latvia, Sweden and the United Kingdom the partnership published a "Final Dissemination Toolbook" in which the collection of tools as well as the partners' experiences with their piloting are described. In addition, a project and dissemination website at http://exciteinfo.eu was develop on which potential beneficiaries can download the description of tools as well as the toolbokBy piloting and exchanging the tools, the partners were able to attract and involve new learners to improve their ICT skills, such as retired people or unemployed. Within their own organisations the partners used the experiences made with the learning partnership to develop and implement new training courses or counselling services for people with learning disabilities. The result is an enhanced number and range of learning opportunities for learners and educators, which also address special needs of the project's target groups. As an overall result the partnership contributes reduce digital illiteracy and divide by involving underprivileged learners in formal and informal learning opportunities and by increasing the participation in lifelong learning.
