exchange about the free-time off youngsters
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Nov 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The subject for this project will be 'how the youngsters experience their spare time'. The participants have to search for equalities about how they manage their spare time and what the society thinks about that. We want that the youngsters select some needs about spare time, so that they can consult their thoughts with the local governments. The process will be the same for the Belgian and Polish youngsters. The number of participants will be 30p. The youngsters will be selected out of different groups. There will be youngsters from Eeklo (Belgium) and youngsters from Swidnica (Poland). They both aim for the same audience. The majority of these youngsters have fewer opportunities. Every youngster has a different home situation and a different context. They face economic obstacles, educational difficulties and social obstacles. The project is situated in 4 steps : Step 1: preparation – August the preparations will be divided over the two groups. The youngsters have their own part of the program to prepare. During the first three weeks of august the youngsters have to gather and prepare their activities. The partner organisations make a global activity program for the exchange. We think it’s important for the group that they have to cooperate so they have a collective output. During this period they have to contact each other so they can fine tune it as one group. Step 2: the exchange – 24 – 29 august The presence of the workers is mainly to arrange some practical stuff and as support for the youngsters. Since the youngsters are responsible for the majority of the program they carry the project. There will be activities with a focus on the cultural and spare time specific affairs. They will get a taste of the culture and environment. Step 3: follow up – September – November The groups of youngsters will share their experiences with the locals. Therefore they will prepare a show moment. During the exchange both groups will brainstorm about this so they can inspire each other. We aim to invite some local council members on the show moment so we can enthuse them to do something about spare time of youngsters. Step 4: evaluation – end of November During the exchange there will be for seen some reflection and evaluation moments. This improves the end evaluation. We want to evaluate the complete process with the youngsters. We are curious if they liked it to prepare and have the responsibility of the program by themselves. We will also discuss the cooperation between the two groups. As well as the follow up at the home base. After this, partners will contact each other to share the evaluations. Our goal is to strengthen the youngsters. Therefore we reach them some tools so they learn to form an opinion and take this outside. Together you are always stronger, this is what we want to teach them. The youngsters learn how to form a consensus and how to develop their vision. We hope both groups can inspire their politics and activate a change. Therefore we see as a minimum that there can be a dialogue between the youngsters and the politics. Youngsters are still fresh and have a lot of creativity and inspiration. They just need a boost to communicate it to the right persons.
