EVStart Paying Forward
Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The context of the project is presented from multiple points of view : a) Young people feel the lack of promotion on a local level on a large scale regarding the European Voluntary Service and of the development opportunities offered by Erasmus Plus b)There is, among young people and members of the local community, a very low promotion level of the european values, such as solidarity, tolerance for other cultures, customs and traditions, the development of the civic spirit to solve social and environmental issues at a national and international level. c) There is still a deficit in the promotion of national and international voluntariate among young people from Satu Mare, as a personal and professional and beneficial learning experience. d)There is no efficiency in the promotion of the nonformal education among young people, as an opportunity to continue the learning process even after graduating high school and university. e) There are not enough pro-community actions that could offer young people personal and professional development possibilities through their active implication. f)Unemployment is increasing and young people are not ready for the active life in the work field. We set out to do this project in order to solve these issues that slow down the development of young people from the local community. The project established for itself the following objectives:1.The promotion of the participation of 100 young people from the community by active implication in environmental and social related issues at a local and national scale. 2.The acquirement of knowledge by 4 young participants in the field of non-formal education, endorsing different methods of work with young people that come from different levels of life, both cultural and social or with financial issues, all from Satu Mare.3.The supply of space for 4 volunteers to gain and practice competences in leadership, communication and organizational skills, public speaking or creative expression, digital media in order to extend their social network and creating employment opportunities through future paid jobs in their respective countries of origin4.Personal development for 4 young people from different cultural environments, by improving their critical thinking, increasing their self-esteem through nonformal education methods. 5. Development of European values such as tolerance, solidarity towards multiculturalism and active citizenship for 4 young people from different countries. Due to some collaboration issues with one of our partners, we had to give up on the partnership with the organization Turkey Haccetepe University and therefore in the project took part 3 participants instead of 4 as foreseen, but this aspect did not influence in a negative way the quality of the project. The participants were chosen following a pre-defined profile of the ideal volunteer candidate for our project. With no discrimination regarding the language, religion or race, a transparent and open selection was made among the candidates with ages between 18 and 30, whom were proven fit for the volunteer internship following the next criteria :passionate about working with children and young people, respectful, tolerant, empathic. Volunteers are expected to be open and interested to work with the target group of the activities. In the end there were selected 3 participants :Chiara (Italy), Nicolas (Germany), Javier (Spain). English language (average level) was a criteria for working in the project, in order to communicate with the young people and to manage the daily activities. The main activities organized by the EVS volunteers during the 6 months internship were : teaching foreign languages (Italian, German and Spanish) in the language clubs for young people with ages between 14-30 years old that have economical and social difficulties, assisting in the foreign language teaching (Italian,German and Spanish) for young people with ages between14-18 years old from vocational high schools, using non-formal educational methods, organizing intercultural evenings to promote traditions and customs of the origin countries of the volunteers, participating in trainings, workshops, coordinating of the regular activities of the association, teaching of techniques of theatrical improvisation, promotion activities of the European Voluntary Service in schools and high schools, coordination of the project finale camp in Negresti Oas.
