EVS-Intercultural meeting and work with asylum seekers
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Hald Internationale Center is a school with topics within cross-cultural understanding and international work, with common goals within the fields of development, mission and leadership. The school is a mixture of theory and practice and all the students have a 6-7 months placement in a different culture. At Hald Internasjonale Center the EVS volunteers will be acting as volunteer assistant staff among the 10 staff members and will have a role as equal colleagues in terms of planning and accomplishing of different activities and projects among our 70-80 students. Next to this, the volunteers will be working in Mandal/Kristiansand Statlige Mottak for Asylsøkere AS (refugees). The EVS volunteers will be acting as volunteers and human recourses that can contribute in practical and social work in the kindergarden for asylum-seekers children. The year will be a good mixture of work in all these areas. We can offer a lot of different learning opportunities as a member of an experienced, dynamic and skilled staff environment, through cultural integration in an intercultural environment with individuals from 14-15 different countries from Africa, Asia, South-America and Norway, through the high possibilities for personal growth and development and with a possibility to contribute with his/her values and skills. The school is based on Christian values and there will be different Christian activities arranged by the students. There will be good learning opportunities in languages like English and Norwegian, but also possibility to practice Portuguese, Spanish, French and Chinese. We will offer a language course in Norwegian language for all EVS volunteers in this project. We intend to receive two volunteers from the beginning of August, and the duration of service is 11 months.
