EVS for Social Inclusion
Start date: Aug 1, 2015,
End date: Mar 31, 2017
EVS for Social Inclusion is a 20 months Multi-activity EVS project that takes place in Palermo.
Palermo is a city with a big presence of migrants, and one of its biggest problem is the presence of too many neglected and abandoned public areas. We decided to work on these topics together and for this reason the project aims at increasing social inclusion and active participation of youngsters and at spreading values connected with European Citizenship concept.
Our project foresees the participation of 2 volunteers in different activities, both within the framework of overall goals and activities of the Hosting organization.
Volunteers indeed, will be working on different specific goals and activities in different time:
- 1 volunteer with fewer opportunities (economic obstacles) coming from Poland will work on a 12 service. Her main activities will be connected with her communication’s competences in order to plan a cause-marketing campaign for the reevaluation of public areas, and working on volunteering actions on neglected areas and promotional events. She’ll be working as well together with CESIE ‘s staff on workshops with minors on EU Citizenship (that will lead to the production of comic strips on duties/rights of European citizens), workshops with migrants on creative recycling, and supporting info-desks for youngsters.
- 1 volunteer from Germany will work on a 4 months service. His main activities will be to exploit his artistic competences to shoot and produce a docu-movie on project’s topics and activities. He’ll be working as well supporting the workshops of video-making and photography and organizing the contest that will follow these workshops.
All activities of the project will be led through non-formal learning methods based on active participation. Methodological approaches used will be:
- Experiential learning
- Cooperative learning
- Peer learning
- Outdoor activities
EVS for Social Inclusion aims at giving a real impact on each part involved (participants, partner organizations and target groups) thanks to the competences acquired by volunteers and that will enrich themselves, sending organizations and target groups involved in workshops. We do believe that project’s activities will increase the awareness on concepts such as EU Citizenship and active participation, and will contribute increase as well social inclusion of migrants and citizens with fewer opportunities, by establishing good practices to share on local, regional, national and European level, through the dissemination of the docu-movie and comic strips (translated), and that we hope will be used again. In this way we hope to create a waterfall effect on future projects implemented on these topics.
