EVS for integration!
Start date: Jan 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The crisis of migrants from countries at war and / or political instability has become a global concern. In early September, the photo of the Syrian dead child caused a wave of intense emotion and solidarity within the international community. The European Union has mobilized and civil society have begun to take steps to facilitate the reception of these migrants. On the other side of the Mediterranean, the countries have also got organized to support the reception of migrants, including Syrians.Given its borders with the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, some migrants "use" Morocco as a migration corridor to reach Europe. Most "fail" and therefore settle in Morocco. Although Morocco was one of the first African countries to be concerned about the care of migrants by implementing legislation on asylum and refugees in 2013, the legal uncertainty around the status of migrants makes victims of racism and discrimination with a minority of the Moroccan people.Starting to raise awareness to the cause of migrants with the youngsters seem to be a good starting point: young people are the present and future. The aim of this mobility experience is both to enable young people to become aware of the seriousness of the situation but also to develop a spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance. The objectives of both partners is to promote cultural integration through the exchange and sharing of good practices. We want to build a society around values such as tolerance and acceptance.CSM, Planete Volunteer EVS and Maison de l'Europe de Nîmes will lead this project together for six months. We want a dialogue to be established between the volunteers, Moroccan volunteers, migrants and refugees and the local community. Everyone can learn from this enriching multicultural experience.Moroccan and French will work together to complete the animation workshops and support to migrants. They will learn from the methodologies and approaches to teaching and various communication. They will jointly develop various skills in an informal context: intercultural awareness, understanding. In this way, the mere presence of EVS volunteers will reinforce the promotion of European values and make known the voluntaryism among Moroccan youth. We firmly believe that the cooperation between Morocco and France contributes to establishing peace and stability, sustainable development and the elimination of prejudice through intercultural dialogue. Volunteers and partner organizations will learn lessons from each other to strengthen the international dimension of youth activities. Finally, the Euro-Mediterranean countries, are currently changing, facing political and economic challenges. Learning about European countries (political, traditions, religions ...) will allow them to better understand the values that the European Union wishes to convey. Young Europeans, from their part, will discover the potential of neighboring Mediterranean countries, to eliminate prejudice and experience through the use of non-formal education methods. This exchange and sharing of mutual experiences will promote understanding and good relations between our countries on our scale.
