EVS: Enhancing Values of Social inclusion

“EVS: Enhancing Values of Social inclusion"” is a short term EVS group project of 10 months that will be coordinated by TDM 2000 and hosted by Beyond Barriers Association in Tirana, Albania. The service will involve 12 young people from Italy between the 2nd of March and the 28 of April 2016. It aims at actively promoting the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, with a special focus on people with disabilities, and it wants to promote volunteerism as a tool to take part to the change of the society. The main priorities fields in which this project wants to have an impact are the inclusion of disabled young people and youngsters with fewer opportunities, and volunteerism as in Albanian society is needed the encouragement and stimulation of the youth work towards voluntary activities. The group of EVS volunteers, through their activities, will stimulate and encourage young people to be active citizens and they will give support to the disabled children of the targeted communities in Tirana. Disability, anti-discrimination, children, media and communication and youth information are the main themes that will be addressed by the project. The group of EVS volunteers will stimulate and encourage young people to be active citizens and they will give support to the disabled children of the targeted communities in Tirana, implementing activities such as: - Assistance and social animation for children with learning difficulties in Tirana - Promotion of local volunteering among young students of High Schools of Albania, through EVS experience and European mobility programmes, as strong tools and positive testimonials. - Preparation and issuing of the Newsletter, update of the website and blog of Beyond Barriers A relevant space will be given to outdoor activities, street actions, exhibition evenings, thematic movie evenings, organization of international awareness days. Through its activities and actions, the project wants to promote the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities in their community, with a special focus on children and teenagers with disabilities and learning difficulties. Furthermore, the voluntary work will be promoted as a tool to take action in the community, contributing to its positive change. Intercultural learning, non-formal education and learning by doing will ensure an intercultural dimension and a sufficient learning space for volunteers, where educational approaches are ensured with the support of the staff. During their EVS, volunteers are expected to acquire and develop new skills, competencies and attitudes towards working with young people with fewer opportunities and disable people. The project will help them in their personal growth and in getting to know a new culture too. The project is the result of the strong partnership between TDM 2000 and Beyond Barriers that already hosted long and short term EVS volunteers and of the last successful EVS project “Volunteering for inclusion: the added value of EVS” that saw the participation of 10 Italian volunteers to several activities implemented in favour of the inclusion of youngsters with fewer opportunities.
