The main aim of the project "European collaboration for better quality of education" under the Erasmus+ programme is to help increase the quality of education in our school as well as increase the qualification of teachers. It is planned that the project will last one year. The project will result in the improvement of the teaching methods, through the use of ICT in everyday and project work. The planned activities include participation in a course "Technology in the classroom". Establishing new contacts with teachers from Europe, getting to know their ways of teaching and exchanging good practice will also help our school to start the working process on new projects and to develop further collaboration . In order to improve the skills of teachers to manage and coordinate projects we have planned participation in a teacher training course on the topic of "Intercultural project management".Another aim of the project is increase in the intercultural competence of teachers, their foreign language competence, practical teaching skills, knowledge of the Western European culture, increase of the European dimension in school. For this reason we have planned two mobilities during which teachers will do the course "Practical teaching skills with an introduction to Scottish culture". The participants in the project are 4 teachers from the Secondary school with the study of European languages "St. Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher". 1 teacher of German language, 2 English language teachers, 1 Bulgarian language and literature as well as history teacher who manages the students' club "Democracy and European values" at our school. Before the course the teachers will prepare themselves for the learning event by refreshing their knowledge of the geography and culture of the countries in which the mobilities will take place. The teachers will communicate and keep correspondence with the course providers. After the participation in the planned mobilities there will be activities such as presentations, open lessons, workshops during which the teachers will present their new or improved skills. The wider community and the educational institutions in the city will be informed of the project results directly by the press and electronic media, from the project site, the school site, from the eTwinning platform. The main project results include increase of teacher qualification in the field of management and coordination of projects, the use of ICT in teaching, improvement of intercultural competence and foreign language skills, better knowledge of the Western European culture, the culture of the UK and current events in the country, the culture of Portugal.The students will benefit most from the project as the teachers will use their new knowledge and improved skills to achieve better quality of teaching, to make the lessons more interesting and diverse in this way leading to both enhancing the students’ motivation and improving their skills to use the ICT themselves. The students will also improve their foreign language skills and awareness of European citizens. In the future the project will have an effect on other teachers from the school, too and on the teacher community as a whole because the results will be disseminated by means of workshops to share experience. During the project the participants will also create an on line Bank of resources. These materials will be developed through the years and we will share them with other teachers.We can say that enhancing of the collaboration between European teachers as well as seeking and modernizing teaching methodology which includes the use of new technology and motivates students to improve their knowledge and skills is among the longterm effects of the project.
