EVI - European Virtual Incubator for the Training & Support of High Tech SMEs

The EVI project will develop models, guidelines, curricula & specific training modules for those considering self-employment and/or the creation of their own business. The focus will be on high technology (high-tech) businesses and will expose users to an innovative ICT training process.Through the use of modern technologies, the EVI project will enhance the relationship of SME trainers and trainees through the creation of an internet-based platform for teaching and learning. The EVI training platform will be a multi-language website, designed and maintained by all project partners, and able to provide day to day courses and training sessions plus one to one mentoring of learners in the basic skills of setting up a small, high-tech business.Planned activities comprise an initial training needs analysis and identification of existing good practice; design and testing of the EVI platform; production of EVI training guidelines; development of the individual training modules (Standardised Distance Training Module; Tailor-made Distance Training Module & Business Information Service Module) and production & dissemination of the initial training modules on CD-Rom.EVI will be based upon the establishment of a long-term training network - European Virtual Business Incubator Consortium (EVBIC) and whilst initial dissemination is planned through a variety of national and international seminars, sustainability of the results is to be achieved through potential longer-term commercialisation through EVBIC.
