EUSA 2017 International Biennial Conference
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

EUSA's biennial international conference assembles top scholars and practitioners from around the world to present original research on all aspects of European integration. The 2015 conference had 460 participants from more than 250 institutions in 37 countries. Almost 200 of the participants were based in the US, coming from nearly 100 institutions in 32 states plus the District of Columbia. We expect the 2017 conference to be of similar scope. The conference is an important training milieu for emerging scholars to introduce them to international academic norms and help them establish networks within the community. EUSA actively encourages and financially supports the participation of PhD students.Panels and papers are solicited through a worldwide, open call. The EUSA Executive Committee convenes a group of independent EU experts who choose among the proposals and form a coherent conference program. Those whose proposals are not selected for the program are invited to take part in the conference poster sessions. The EUSA Executive Committee also invites keynote speakers. In 2015 the plenary speakers included former High Representative Baroness Catherine Ashton and Professor Thomas Piketty. In 2017 one of the plenary sessions will be open to the public and will promoted through collaboration with the Florida International University and the University of Miami. The conference will also feature panels at which representatives of Jean Monnet Centers of Excellence from around the world can share best practices. It also features EUSA interest section meetings; and some two dozen exhibitors who display and vend their EU-related materials. The EUSA conference is one of the foremost opportunities for leading scholars to share their work, receive feedback, and develop new initiatives and connections. All of the conference papers are available on line. A selection of the best papers will be published as a special issue of the Journal of European Public Policy.
