EUROSOCIAL
Start date: Oct 29, 2014, End date: Oct 28, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The goal of the project was to improve employability of graduating students in the social sector. Often they face difficulties in obtaining decent work in line with their qualifications and they are disadvantaged on the labour market due to their lack of professional experience, practical working habits and usually their language skills are not very high. The project proposal was compliant with the National employability plan, which envisages support for better employment opportunities of young persons and reducing unemployment rates. Within the project realization there were two groups of participant in each destination (Spain/UK).¨ The quality of services within the social sphere in Czech Republic is gradually rising and the whole territory of NGO´s is showing from the long-term perspective a certain progress. However, one of the sore spot is still a very weak link between this area and the state authorities on one hand and the commercial sphere on the other hand. Cooperation between these worlds is painfully insufficient in the Czech Republic. In Spain, and even more distinctly in the UK these different sectors are much more connected and the NGO sphere draws clear benefits from this symbiosis. One of the main purposes of the project was therefore experiencing this aspect and at lest partial transfer of this know-how form the destination countries to our national context. The project attended to the following educational and professional needs of the participants: improving language skills in the natural speaking environment, acquiring further knowledge in professional context - gaining practical work experience in a social oriented institution ot NGO, acquiring new competences and improving their language skills. The final beneficeries of the project were selected in close cooperation between Vyšší Odborná Škola Sociální a Pedagogická (Upper-secondary school of social area) and VUSTE ENVIS. The participants were recruited from the last-year and last but one year classes of the school. The destinations chosen for the project were Spain and Great Britain, in both cases EU member states with dynamic economy, where the placement possibilities in the social sector could fully meet the participants needs. The selected intermediary organizations ONECO (Spain, Sevilla) a TELLUS (Great Britain – Plymouth) have developed a large network of cooperating institutions (placement companies) in both commercial and NGO sphere and they can guarantee high quality internship tailored to the participants´ requirements and preferences. The added value of the project resided in the evaluation tools. As an integral part of the validation of the work placement we will use ECVET - the European system of credit asignment and recognition. In total 21 students participated in the project. All of them were first and second year students of the partner school VOŠ Sociální a Pedagogická. There were 2 different terms for each destination: 1) 22.2.-22.3.2015. 9 participants - 3 for Spain (Sevilla) 6 for England (Plymouth). 2) 22.3.-19.4.2015. The same destination as with the first term. 8 participants for Spain and 4 for England - 12 in total in theis term. All the work placements were realised in social and pedagogical sector. The internships were carried out in 3 types of institutions: 1) Kindergartens: 17 placements (10 x Spain, 7x England) 2) Nursing homes for the elderly: 3 placements (3x England) 3) Center for handiccaped children: 1 placement (1x Spain) In the larger context we consider that the realization of the proposed project resulted in a valid contribution to the vocational training in the Czech Republic and to the European dimension of the European citizenship.
