Europejskie kwalifikacje w turystyce – mobilność w Austrii
Start date: Dec 31, 2014, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project named “ European qualifications in tourism - mobility in Austria" answers the need of inducing change within the system of vocational education related to catering and hotel business. The changes concern the importance of providing learners with such a learning experience that they will be able to later find a job suitable to their qualifications that were gained during the learning process. The project plans to do just that. The goal of the project is to support 40 young people, students, and graduates in obtaining key qualifications, recognized within the EU, in the catering and hotel business; and foremost, to enhance the individuals' ability to become employed within the European labor market, to improve mobility and German language skills , and promote the ever-lasting notion of self-development. Interns will learn how to cope in different situations by utilizing specialized skills, which will increase their chances of being hired by Polish and foreign employers. Participation in internships evens the playing field out by providing work experience; it effectively combats unemployment for people up to the ages of 25, which is about 23% in the Lower Silesia Region. 50% of teenagers from areas that are covered by the project come from families with a history of unemployment, low income, and poverty. Amongst the participants, there are also financial barriers which make attendance in extracurricular courses impossible. The project will contribute individuals by having them become aquainted with modern methods, new working conditions, equipment used in foreign companies, and the basics of entreneurship. Interns will acquire the skills that will allow them to effectively cope with situations that involve language barriers, and foremost will be provided the oppurtunity to find goods jobs amongst Polish and foreign employers. For most interns this will be the first foreign trip undertaken independently. The plans of the project will begin to be carried out after the promotional campaign, and after that the participants will be recruited. All the participants before departure will be preparing for the internship by having lessons in German, culture and pedagogics. The further plan will be to organize internships for their appropiate professions: hotel management, nutrition and catering services in companies in Carinthia in the period of September 2014 to May 2016 – for a total of 2 groups per 20 participants each ( per 8 weeks). The management of the project will be based on the PCM methodology:collaboration with the “Zespołem Szkół Ponadgimnzjalnych w Karpaczu”, monitoring, the making of reports of partcipants and ARW, evaluation, and the publicizing of results. The Mobility in Austria is the result of a very well developed infrastructure which will allow interns to become familiar with institutional organizations, working conditions and differences in expectations by European entrepenuers. Participation within the project will allow participants to have work experience in modern and technically well-equiped tourist and catering services. The implementation of internships in Austria would also support the integration of European nations, the learning of foreign languages and the deepening of knowledge concerning culture. The aquired knowledge, professional competence, and the language and social skills of every student will be assessed individually and documented by certificates made by ECVET and EUROPASS MOBILITY. The result of the project will be the obtaining of necessary skills, qualifications, and competence in the profession by the intern which may be used in the international workplace. Participants will learn modern methods of company management, and improve their language skills which will raise the competition level in the labor market. The achieved results will boost the motivation to learn vocational subjects and foreign languages within other students. They will serve to improve the quality of education in schools through the strengthening of its authority and importance by establishing it as an educational instition that develops creativity and entreneurship within young people. The students' professional experience will prove to have long-term benefits, resulting in the improvement of tourist services within the Lower Silesian Region where hotel and catering services are becoming more prominent due to the increasing number of visitations of tourists – predominantly from german-speaking countries. The goals of this project are complimentary to the Erasmus program: it is about the improving of key qualifications and skills, especially the ones that are needed within the labor market, contributing to society by promoting cultural awareness and language learning, prioritizing the Europe 2020 strategy, assisting the development of the economy, the striving for high employment levels, and the ensuring of economic and social cohesion.
