EUROPEJSKIE DOŚWIADCZENIA W NAUCE JEZYKÓW OBCYCH

The project concentrated on the issues important for functioning of every secondary school, that is the methods of the effective language education. The main aim of the project was to raise the level of linguistic education at our school. The participants of the project were the teachers of languages, employed at our school – 12 persons in total. After the end of the recruitment process and the completion of linguistic and cultural classes the participants went to Portugal on one week-long mobility, divided into two groups of 6 people. They took part in job shadowing activities, during which they have had the opportunity to observe the system of linguistic education in secondary schools in Portugal. During the process of planning the project, the following soft results were planned: - development of teachers’ qualifications and experience in teaching the foreign language - stronger motivation to learn - increasing the participants’ self-esteem - stronger motivation for self-study - raising the participants’ professional and personal aspirations - developing tolerant attitude and acceptance for different customs, code of conduct and religion - getting to know the history, culture and customs of the receiving country Most of them are visible right now, the rest will be to examine in the longer perspective. Hard results: - realizing the linguistic and cultural preparation, in specified number of hours - awarding the Europass Mobility documents - awarding the certificates confirming the completion of the language course - awarding the certificates confirming the participation in the cultural preparation classes - awarding the certificates, issued by the receiving institution, confirming the completion of job shadowing program The material results were the following: - collection of photos and films, taken and made by the participants of the project showing its development and stay in Portugal - presentations showing the project – prepared for the final conference - reports on the realization of the project, prepared by two groups separately - materials obtained thanks to the project evaluation While realizing the project we applied the methodology based on the clear division of tasks and responsibilities between employees and on the rule of constant supervision of the director over all project activities. The documentation were compiled from the initial stage of the project (drawing up the fundamental principles) until the last one, which included dissemination process and administrative closure of the project. Each project team member had the scope of duties clearly specified. The success of the project is assessed as the increase in the participants’ professional qualifications and in the long rung should result in the higher level of qualifications of the employees working in other training institutions in our city, who benefit from the effects of our project. Thanks to the realization of the project, the cooperation between schools improved. The project facilitated the development of cooperation with other training institutions which educate teachers and enabled satisfying the needs of the region, which concern the employment of well qualified teachers of foreign languages. This will increase the level of education at schools, from which the participants will be recruited, and appropriately to the scale of our project the general level of education among students who graduates.
