The sending institution is Zespół Szkół im. Tadeusza Kościuszki w Żarkach- a school with about 350 uczniów. The receiving organization is Associação Intercultural Amigos da Mobilidade (A.I.A.M.) - an organization specialising in organizing European exchange programmes. There are 2 groups of 16 students each. Students taking part in the project are Hotel Management and Gastronomy students, clasess 1 to 3 (16 to 18 years old), each group with two teachers. The students have little experience in their job. The aims of our project are in line with Erasmus+ aims. The main aim is to raise our students' professional competences as well as their communicative knowledge of English, which answers directly to their needs. These are the most important factors, which decide about their being useful on the job market. The level of unemployment in our region is very high, one of the highest in the country. According to WUP in Katowice on 31.10.2013 the unemployment rate in Myszków district was 19,7% , in the neighbouring Częstochowa district 20,6 and in Zawiercie district 17,4%, whereas in the whole Silesia province the rate was 11%. Thanks to their participation in the project, the students will gain new qualifications and work experience in terms of hotel managemet, gastronomy and IT, will learn about new technologies, which are inaccessible for them at school, will serve the customers at the hotel and restaurant more skillfully, according to their needs and European standards. They will get to know the Portuguese cuisine and the way Portuguese restaurants and hotels work (the culture, customs ad eatig habits). Students will improve their language skills, will be able to communicate effectively in everyday English and professional English. To ensure high quality of the project, following activities will be carried out: • the choice of partner – A.I.A.M. is an organization with huge experience in organizing Europea projects, which was recommended to us by a partner school as a reliable one and guaranteeing realizing the project on the highest level. • Recruiting candidates will be based on clear criteria, taking into account the key areas, which are the level of English and professional training. It will give the same chances to all candidates regardless of their gender, origin or any other factors. • Language preparation – a professional English course will be organized (separate for the IT group and the hotel and gastronomy group) at a language school. The total number of teaching hours will be 40 at the language school and 20 at our school, by our teachers. Students will be equipped with English coursebooks accompanied by a CD for practising at home. • Culture preparation – workshops of intercultural tolerance (5 hours in total) will be organized for the students to prepare them for being in a multicultural environment. • Psychology workshops (5 hours) will teach the students how to cope with stress and how to behave in new, difficult situations. Students will get support from both the sending and receiving institutions on every stage of the project, they will be fully insured for the time of journey and stay in Portugal. The sending institution will organize airport transfers and flightsto and from Portugal. The receiving institution will ensure airport transfers in Portugal to and from the accomodation place as well as local transport. Students will be accomodated in twin and triple rooms with bathrooms and Internet access. Full board will be provided. The conditions of living and the board will be adjusted to the preferences of the participants (allergies, special diets etc.). The details will be agreed on with the partner beforehand. The programme in Portugal as well as work placement will be agreed on with the partner and adjusted to the language level of the students, as well as their expectations and needs. Regular monitoring of the students at work will be carried out by accompanying Polish teachers and the receiving partner's representative. Together they will evaluate the project. Oe of the tangible results of the project will be Mobility Europass and a certificate issued by the receiving partner. Dissemination of results will be targeted mainly to the local environment: information in the local press, on local government's website, information for lower secodary school students present on the Open Days in our school as well as to the invited guests, such as the Prefect of the Myszków Districtand local bussiness people present at the official summary of the project. Our school knows how to manage projects, we took part n LdV IVT and VETPRO projects. We will do our best to realize the project on the highest level.
