Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main objective of the project titled "The European mobility of teachers at ZST in Strzyżów guarantees high quality of the school’s work" is to raise the quality of the school’s work by allowing the staff of ZST in Strzyżów to acquire new professional qualifications. The specific objectives are:● to become familiar with the German educational system,● to acquire knowledge of the range of programs and activities implemented by German schooling to prevent drop-outs and social exclusion,● to obtain new educational competencies that help develop student attitudes that facilitate their personal and social development, and, consequently, prepare them for effective and responsible contribution to a modern European society,● to acquire new professional skills related to the modern and efficient management of educational institutions,● to broaden the language skills of the school staff,● to get to know the realities of life, culture and customs in Germany,● to establish or improve the quality of cooperation with educational institutions in Germany. The project is geared towards 15 employees of ZST in Strzyżów: 2 members of the management team, 2 German language teachers, 1 administrative employee, 1 school counselor and 9 form teachers. The project participants will take part in a five-day training course on the development of student attitudes that allow for effective and responsible contribution to a modern European society and a fifteen-hour German language course. The training program also allows for participants to become familiar with the German educational system and with innovative ways of managing an educational institution. The implementation of the project fully corresponds with the needs of the school as an educational environment. The youth attending ZST in Strzyżów comes from poor rural areas and small towns, characterized by weak economic growth, high structural unemployment and a disadvantageous structure of education. The difficult socioeconomic situation that affects the families of most of our students, often growing up surrounded by inactive, unresourceful and pessimistic people, contributes to their poor self-esteem, lack of self-confidence and poor motivation to learn, which in turn generates a lot of behavioral problems and learning difficulties. These students belong to a group at risk of dropping out of the educational system, and thus social exclusion. The applicant is aware that school personnel is an important factor affecting the quality of education. The staff’s competence and commitment has a significant impact on the effects of education, activating students and igniting their aspirations, as well as influencing their school achievements. Achieving the objectives of the project will undoubtedly influence the professional development of school staff. Teachers will improve the quality and innovation of educational programs, preventative measures and teaching, and allow the staff to aggregate their practical experiences abroad to implement at their own school. This will significantly improve the quality of educational services provided in ZST in Strzyżów, and subsequently raise the level of education of graduates, preparing them to face the labor market or pursue further study at higher education institutions. The management and administrative employees will gain knowledge in the application of modern information technology in the management and administration of educational institutions, which will allow them to add a European dimension to the school’s education. It will also increase the language skills of school staff, who will participate in preparatory language courses prior to departure as well as a German language course in Leipzig. Staying in a country with a different cultural specificity, different customs, habits and a different mentality will give school teachers an opportunity to broaden their perspective on other cultures, thus contributing to a better understanding and sense of European integration, and will facilitate the development of open and tolerant student attitudes towards other people, cultures, religions and countries. Establishing formal and informal contacts between the school staff and employees of educational institutions in Leipzig will allow for the exchange of experiences in other areas of education and will be an element of European integration. Gaining international experience will help to increase the authority and prestige of the school in the local environment.
