EUROPEAN volunteers in YOUTH CAPITAL
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Dec 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The “EUROPEAN volunteers in YOUTH CAPITAL” project was implemented in collaboration by Kölner Freiwilligen Agentur and Cluj-Napoca Volunteer Center (CNVC), between June 2014 and December 2015, under Erasmus + Program, Key Action 1. The project was based on a strong partnership that has started 9 years ago between the two organizations and has been strengthened through various projects in which both partners have sent and hosted volunteers and exchanged expertise regarding volunteering management. The project was meant to consolidate the active participation of hosting organization (CNVC) within the European Youth Capital that will be implemented in Cluj-Napoca in 2015. The main aim of the project was to facilitate the personal and professional development of the 2 participant EVS volunteers, by creating the proper support system and the activities that will contribute to this. The first part of the 12 months volunteering stage (starting in September 2014) was be focused on activities designed and prepared by the two EVS volunteers and aimed to involve local youngsters in language and intercultural clubs in order to promote the value of active citizenship and to prepare them for all the opened opportunities that were available during the European Youth Capital in Cluj-Napoca. In the second part of the service the volunteers have been involved in planing, promoting and realizing specific events and campaigns implemented by the host organization (events within the National Volunteer Week, EVS presentations for interested youngsters, etc) For the final part of the service, the volunteers had the chance to propose and implement personal initiatives that were linked and included within the general context offered by the European Youth Capital activities. The entire learning process of the volunteers was be facilitated through a structured process, based on non formal education methods, meant to make the volunteers aware of their learning process and encourage them to take responsibility towards accomplishing their goals. In this way, the project was designed to empower the volunteers to become more aware of their personal development process and more determined to take action in order to achieve what they have planned through entrepreneurial initiatives, to develop specific competences and skills, related to the activities implemented in the projects, skills that helped them to become more competitive in future on the labor market. At local level, the project aimed to create a motivating environment for young people to take action and get involved in the community live through volunteering actions.
