European Qualification for Occupational Safety and Health professionals
Start date: Oct 1, 2010,

Despite a common EU legislative framework regarding Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), there are no common requirements in the different Member States for the training of OSH managers and technicians. This leads to a lack of transparency and recognition of their qualification, creating a serious barrier to their international mobility. The aim of the project is to develop a new professional qualification and training framework based on the already existing certification standards and making use of the instruments created at EU level in order to achieve effective competences and qualification transparency and recognition. The project will make use of the ECVET and EQF and of the two voluntary certification standards (EurOSHM and EurOSHT), developed by the European Network of Safety and Health Professional Organisations (ENSHPO). The outcome will be a suitable range of standardized profiles (expected at EQF levels 4, 5 and 6) to cover the different levels of qualifications and roles of OSH professionals. The project will produce country reports on OSH training, a new profile for OSH professionals with qualifications in units of learning outcomes based on the ECVET system and educational objectives, teaching plans and example teaching materials standardized at EU level. The material supplied by the project will be in English. Participating institutions will be responsible for translations into their own languages. A network of training centers, professionals and representatives from the field of education, the academic world will also be created, based on the existing ENSHPO and ENETOSH networks. The project will enable OSH professionals to achieve recognition of their competences and qualifications and increase their mobility. It will also create flexible instruments to validate, transfer and recognize learning results, ready to be transferred also in the other EU countries where the consortium members are not active.
