European companies must be capable to manufacture products of superior quality at competitive costs to compete effectively in the global economy. Key to the quality of any product is an understanding of the manufacturing processes by which is produced. The main goal of the EPRODEC project is to establish a unitary, transparent European training and certification system in Production Engineering (PE) based on EUR-ACE Framework Standards for the Accreditation of Engineering Programmes. It will be done developing an EPRODEC Accreditation Body, the Quality Assurance Manual, an EPRODEC Curriculum, an EPRODEC Educational package and the European Production Engineer Certificate. This will valorize this branch of engineering by defining and maintaining a European standard of professionnal competence and contribute to the staff mobility.
