aditus foundation is a human rights organisation adovcating for an improved access to fundamental human rights in Malta. As part of our activities, we also offer legal aid services through our Pro Bono Unit. The Unit is composed of lawyers and law students offering free human rights information and interventions to persons requiring it. Asylum-seekers and refugees constitute a major group of clients we service. With the new legal norms in place, we are now seeking to expand our capacity and activities to be able to offer a more effective legal aid service, and are seeking alternative ways of enforcing the rights of our beneficiaries.The ELENA Network Training will offer us the opportunity to consolidate existing knowledge, and to expand it to new areas of involvement and activities. The trainee will be exposed to colleagues working in similar fields, and will therefore be in a good position to network and discuss national concerns and challenges. Upon her return, the trainee will deliver an internal training to the organisation's staff, interns and volunteers and will be come the Unit's focal point on the training themes. She will produce regular internal memos covering the training elements and also engage with other relevant stakeholders to offer knowledge and expertise. This activity forms part of aditus foundation's efforts at creating a national pool of legal aid providers, in order to increase the support provided to individuals requiring human rights information or interventions. The on-going training of all our staff, interns and volunteers is therefore key to our success.
