The 14th edition of the European Film Forum Scanorama will take place in four largest cities of Lithuania – Vilnius, Kaunas, Siauliai and Klaipeda – from November 3 to 20, 2016. During the festival approximately 130 European films of all genres - feature films, documentaries, and animations, both feature-length and short, will be presented. The films will be divided under several headings: "News from the North", "Crossing Europe", "Real Life", "Come with Mum and Dad", Scanorama Night, Lithuanian film premieres, programme curated by Deimantas Narkevičius and a retrospective of Andrzej Zulawski's films. An important part of the festival will be the programme “New Baltic Cinema” – a Baltic (Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian) short film competition which serves as a debut platform for young Baltic filmmakers. The aim of this programme is to promote young cinema professionals and present new talents as well as daring and innovative ideas from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Their films will be judged by an international jury. The project "Culture Pirates" will be held in the festival's framework. It will be aimed to raise awareness of copyright and author's rights in film industry, and will be accompanied by panel discussions with participation of international speakers and an exhibition of artworks related to this topic. In Andrzej Zulawski's retrospective up to 10 films will be presented, accompanied by lectures and presentations of his work by film critics and researchers. The guests of the festival this year will be film directors, actors and crew members who will present their films and participate in discussions. Special guests of the festival, Brothers Quay will hold a masterclass on the use of digital technologies in film production. Every film screened at the festival will be introduced by the artistic director or programme coordinators. Some screenings will be followed by Q&A sessions with participation of the film's crew, either live or conducted by Skype.
