Europe on the move. A youth meeting on intercultural communication, European mobility, asylum policy and racism.
Start date: Jan 20, 2015, End date: Apr 19, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Europe on the move. The group of participants of this youth encounter project „Europe on the move“ consists of 21 young Europeans between 20 and 30 years, who originate from different countries and cultures. We speak different languages and we eat different food. Our sense of time is different, not only due to the time lag, yet still we have a lot in common. Almost everybody has been a stranger in a foreign country once, be it through development cooperation, Erasmus exchange programmes, internship, master programmes or civil service abroad. We all are campaigners, who believe in an equal and fair society, who speak up for humane, solidary and political issues. By means of example we are engaged in projects helping migrants and asylum seekers, and in development cooperations and we stand up for a world which is fair and worth living in. This is the base of our youth encounter „Europe on the move“. We are accomodated in a Jouthhostel and spend our days working on these topics. We work in a nonformal educational concept, as well as practical experience. We plan to work in the group, as well as individual individually, combined with creative elements (Theater, Music, Pictures) and excursions. Our goal is to become experts ourselves of our own intercultural and political experiences. Reflexion and discussion of our experiences, as well as an intensive personal treatment oft he topics are our focus. The aims of this programme are of personal and political nature. We want to reflect on our own cultural and personal bevioural patterns through the eyes of a foreigner. We would like to share our intercultural experiences, reflect upon and learn from them, as well as from the experience of the others. In the political aspect, we would like to reflect on our political and sociopolitical engagement from the point of view of other cultures and try to find a common, european attitude towards the subject. As networking is one of the most important aspects of this project, we try to create a platform of interaction for young, european activists. We do not want to be involved alone, but we want to be part of a young, (sociopolitically) active and, most important, european community. The results of this youth-exchange-programm strongly depend on the personalities of the participants. We are a good example for a common european identity, therefore one of the certain outcomes is the thorough reflection and encouragement of this european identity. As young adults we are the future of our national community and therefore are able to contribute to a more cross-linked, conjoint and most important peaceful Europe.
