Europe, local heritage and children in Redon, France
Start date: Jan 1, 2016, End date: Feb 28, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

In this project, a European volunteer from Portugal will be in the heart of the local life of Saint-Jean-la-Poterie, France (Bretagne). The volunteer will be integrated in Le Patiau : a "museum" of the rich past of the village , which was a village of potters. This is the opportunity for her to discover the life of this specific area of Bretagne, and how it affected the village and his inhabitants, in the past and nowadays (because the "museum" of Le Patiau is a lively place, in the centre of the area). The volunteer will also participate to the school children activities, which is the opportunity to meet the little ones and their families, and to bring to this rural village new skills, new propositions, and an opening onto Europe. The EVS volunteer will be connected with the other volunteers and her organization as well. This is a way for us to build links between our organizations through what we call "the collective project of EVS volunteers in Redon", and for the volunteers to developp their own projects together, as a group and individually. Our organizations are all working on different levels and with different publics (handicapped people, children, high school pupils, young people, local community, cinema, museums..), and thanks to this cooperation, the volunteers can meet the other organizations, and the publics of these organizations can meet the different volunteers. In our hosting projects, we try to use as much as possible a pedagogy of participation with the volunteers : to give them the opportunity to manage their own projects on an autonomous way (with our support), to make so that they take initiatives, to develop their citizen awareness. We try as much as we can to mix the nationalities of the volunteers we are hosting, to create a real cultural diversity.
